A leading Australasian publishing group is looking for an Assistant Accountant to support the daily accounting of royalty transactions. This is a diverse and hands-on role, playing a key part in the management reporting process with a focus on tracking and managing the group’s royalty liabilities.

Position

Reporting to the Senior Assistant Accountant, duties and responsibilities in the role include:

• Management of cash transactions across the group, including downloading bank statements; completing daily bank reconciliations and foreign currency bank recs/transfers; and setting up FX trades.
• Supporting distribution payment functions across the group.
• Full general ledger responsibility for the reconciliation of the royalty liabilities of the group including the management of monthly expense accruals.
• Responsible for the completion of monthly New Zealand Non-Resident Withholding Tax returns and payments.
• Month-end reconciliations and related journals, including intercompany accounts, sundry debtors and creditors, international revenue and subsidiary system ledger reconciliations.
• General support of the Finance Department management team as required.

Profile

Success in this role will require a degree in Accounting or similar discipline and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounting role. Additionally:

• The ideal candidate will have proven experience in bank reconciliations and in managing and analysing large data sets.
• A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, coupled with excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, are key to success in this role.

• Salary up to $75,000 plus superannuation, dependant on experience.
