This role is based in Townsville and reports directly to the Retail Operations Manager.

The Role:

This is a pivotal leadership role where your ability to lead with empathy, respect, and direction will make all the difference. You will manage a large 1,600 sqm warehouse operation that supports 17 retail outlets plus charitable CARE deliveries to people in need across the community.

You will lead a diverse team of 6 direct reports (warehouse assistants and delivery drivers) and 30–40 volunteers. Volunteers require a personable and empathetic leader, one who inspires rather than pushes, and who balances operational excellence with genuine care.

Your organisational skills will shine as you oversee both the administrative and operational sides of the role, including inventory management. A proactive, hands-on approach is essential to keep operations running smoothly.

More specifically, your key accountabilities include (full JD is available):

Oversee daily inventory, distribution, workplace safety, and the leadership of staff and volunteers across warehouse operations.

Ensure a high standard of service delivery to all retail stores and relevant operations within the region.

Take full ownership of warehousing and logistics outcomes, including financials, inventory and supply chain management, WH&S, risk, and people management.

Lead and support warehouse staff, delivery drivers, and volunteers to ensure efficient collection, processing, storage, and distribution of donated goods.

Manage inventory and stock for 17 outlets and charitable deliveries, using Excel spreadsheets to track and report stock levels.

Oversee daily warehousing operations including resource allocation, stock rotation, and dispatch activities.

Foster a safe working environment by promoting and enforcing WH&S policies.

Provide clear, respectful leadership and direction, maintaining motivation and engagement amongst staff and volunteers.

Manage administration tasks and compliance with organisational policies and procedures.

Highly organised, both administratively and operationally.

Proactive, personable, empathetic and who is able to motivate and respect volunteers and staff alike.

Be accountable and follow through with what you promise.

Experienced managing and leading teams.

Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for inventory management.

A forklift licence and MR licence (desirable, but not essential).

Holds a current open driver’s licence.
