About the Role
We are seeking a driven and experienced Workshop Manager to lead our Perth-based workshop operations. This pivotal role is responsible for managing the procurement, maintenance, and allocation of operational assets, overseeing workshop-based fabrication, and supervising workshop staffing across multiple civil construction projects. The role collaborates closely with other departments to ensure seamless logistics, safety, and cost-effective asset deployment.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the Mining or Civil Construction sector.
Job Role:
Oversee compliance with ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001) for workshop operations.
Supervise workshop labour, contractors, and mechanical teams.
Manage preventative maintenance and repair schedules for all plant and equipment.
Control procurement of materials and ensure effective supplier relationships.
Track and maintain asset registers, servicing, inspections, and certifications.
Coordinate goods receipting and project-based material distribution.
Prepare and stage materials for field teams and upcoming projects.
Conduct audits and site inspections in line with HSEQ protocols.
Manage workshop and equipment budgets within project cost controls.
Liaise with project teams to ensure delivery and resourcing aligns with site requirements.
Develop and implement SOPs for workshop processes, quality, and safety.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance and procurement functions.
Coordinate fleet and plant compliance including registrations and servicing.
Mentor apprentices and junior staff to support career progression and workshop capability.
Support internal and external audits and maintain all compliance documentation.
Competencies, Skills and Experience required:
Trade qualification in Carpentry or Mechanical field.
Minimum 3 years' experience in a supervisory role within civil or mining construction.
Experience in procurement, warehousing, or plant management.
HR Driver's Licence.
High Risk Work Licences (LF, RA, DG, CV).
White Card.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance tracking systems.
Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
Working knowledge of HSEQ compliance.
Desirable
Diploma of Building and Construction.
HC Class Licence.
Electrical and fire safety inspection tickets (e.g. UEENEEP026A, EPPFES2020A).
Operator tickets for Telehandler, Bobcat, Excavator.
Mechanical trade background.
