The Queensland Resources Council (QRC) is seeking a dynamic, energetic and organised STEM Engagement Educator to join the Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy (QMEA) in launching its exciting new Mackay Regional Hub.
This is your chance to be a driving force in Australia's most successful industry-education partnership – bringing STEM to life for students and helping shape the workforce of the future.
About the Role:
As the QMEA STEM Engagement Educator, you'll be based in Mackay at the state-of-the-art Resources Centre of Excellence, delivering hands-on, curriculum-linked STEM workshops and activities to schools across the Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday regions.
You’ll work closely with schools, industry, and education stakeholders to deliver engaging programs that:
Introduce students to cutting-edge technologies like robotics, automation, and coding
Build excitement about STEM careers in the resources sector
Support teachers with resources and professional development
Strengthen school-industry connections through real-world problem solving
You’ll also play a key role in expanding the QMEA’s reach, helping us connect with 10,000 additional students and 50 new schools over the next three years.
What we are looking for:
We’re looking for someone who:
Has STEM education or industry experience and can bring science and technology to life
Can confidently present in classrooms and engage students from Years 5 to 12
Is organised, self-motivated and great at building relationships
Is passionate about STEM learning and its connection to future jobs and technologies
Thrives working both independently and as part of a team across distances
Has or can obtain a valid Queensland Blue Card
Is confident in a school laboratory setting
Digital fluency (coding, robotics, Arduino etc.) will be highly regarded.
