Overview:

This role will be based in Parramatta.

The work will be completed hybrid / part WFH.

The contract role is signed off to end June 2026, and may extend further.

Snapshot of Role:

This is an opportunity for a highly-skilled, Senior DevOps Engineer who is passionate about DevOps practices, development productivity, automation, ensuring quality and continuous improvement–while employing DevOps best practices and standards-compliant techniques.

The Senior DevOps Engineer will be responsible for leading and developing the internal DevOps capability.

Other responsibilities are to provide production DevOps support and work with commissioning and delivery teams in the more challenging DevOps tasks.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly capable team and participate in digital transformation and capability uplift.

You will work with leading edge persistent technologies like React/Redux, AWS, Mulesoft, SQL and NoSQL databases.

The role will report to the Manager, Digital Portfolio Systems and Delivery.

Key competencies desired:

You should be able to demonstrate solid experience in the following:

• Extensive DevOps support experience in production environments, including backup/recovery, monitoring, and alerting. (on AWS)

• 5 -8 years’ experience and excellent Systems administration skills

• Solid cloud experience with AWS core services (IAM, VPC, EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, RDS, Route53, CloudFront, CloudWatch, Lambda, DynamoDB)

• Understanding of security principles and AWS best practices

• Good understanding of Infrastructure-as-a-code approach and exposure to AWS CloudFormation, Terraform

• Solid experiencing in building and maintaining Docker images

• Understanding of CI/CD tools such as Bamboo CI, AWS CodePipline, AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodeDeploy.

• Experience with AWS Serverless

• Experience with long term operation, monitoring and upgrade of enterprise software.

• Familiarity with AWS Cloud Development Kit, Troposphere.

• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, networking and protocols

• DDoS mitigation techniques / IPS-IDS / Web Application Firewalls

• Solid coding/scripting skills (Java, Python, bash)

• Understanding of Web and API development

• Solid understanding of source code control, preferably with Git Disaster recovery design and implementation.

Qualifications:

We would expect you to have AWS certifications and other certifications / training relevant to the technologies in use. Formal IT qualifications are desired but not mandatory.
