The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Psychologist - Senior (Mental Health - Youth Alcohol and Other Drugs Service) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

• Provide high-level assessment, treatment, risk management, care co-ordination and service exist planning to a varied and complex caseload
• Deliver evidence-based interventions for consumer and their families, including the development and provision of individual and group based therapeutic programs
• Apply high level professional judgement and decision making to resolve a complex careload, adapting routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable clinical evidence with minimal direct clinical practice supervision
• Undertake high level and non-routine clinical duties including liaison and the provision of clinical advice on treatment plans and management of clients

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• A tertiary degree in Psychology
• AHPRA Registration
• Driver Licence
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

• Permanent full time
• Base salary ranging from $128 169 - $137 918 per annum

About Us

The Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (AODS) is a free, confidential and voluntary service provided by Gold Coast Health. Our service is available to young people from aged 12 to 18 years and their families who live in the Gold Coast region. Our clinics offer multi-disciplinary teams who are experienced in understanding and working with young people who have substance misuse difficulties.

AODS is a multi-disciplinary, multi-specialty team within the Gold Coast Specialist Mental Health Services. This team provides triage, assessment, brief therapeutic intervention and care management. It operates 5 days a week, standard business hours and across multiple Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service sites and other non-government community services. The AODS team conveys hope, optimism and a belief in recovery from substance misuse problems at the point of entry to state funded AODS service and warm referral onto non-government and primary health services.
