About the Role:
The Grade 2 Paediatric physiotherapist provides comprehensive paediatric services across the Cowes and Wonthaggi sites of Bass Coast Health. The successful physiotherapist will have a sound understanding of all the components of early childhood and middle childhood development including orthopaedic, cardiorespiratory and neurological development.
They initiate connections and develop relationships with Maternal and Child Health, child-care centres, kindergartens and schools, as well as screening referrals to facilitate early diagnosis and timely intervention by referral pathways to Paediatricians.
They facilitate access to NDIS support for global developmental delay for children that meet the NDIS criteria. They also provide education and support to carers for concerns regarding mild delay not requiring escalation thereby conserving health care resources.
The Grade 2 Physiotherapist is responsible for contributing to quality, risk management, education and research under the supervision of the Grade 3 Outpatient physiotherapist.
This role is mentored and clinically supported by the casual Grade 3 Paediatric physiotherapist.
Key Selection Criteria:
MANDATORY:
Understanding of early childhood development and behaviour
Experience working with children in an MDT in hospital or specialist school setting
Entitlement to work within Australia
A Police Check that is current and within 12 months of the issue date
Provision of valid Working with Children Check
Provision of a NDIS Worker Screening Check
COVID-19 Vaccination and seasonal influenza vaccination of healthcare workers in accordance with Secretary, Department of Health Directions
DESIRABLE:
Experience with ortho paediatric rehabilitation
Experience in screening for Cerebral Palsy and complex genetic syndromes
Completion of the Advanced Skills in Paediatric Physiotherapy - neonates and infants’ course
Post Grad Dip in Paediatrics
Experience with NDIS submission paperwork
