But enough about us, let’s talk about you
The City is looking for a qualified and experienced Plumber to join our City Maintenance team. In this position your expertise in plumbing will be invaluable in the maintenance of the City’s facilities, including buildings, community halls, libraries, sporting facilities, aquatic centres, public ablutions and outdoor furniture.
You will be able to carry out planned and reactive plumbing and gas maintenance, and minor new works to the City’s facilities assets, as well as provide advice, training, support, and assistance to City staff in matters relating to hydraulic installations and works.
What can you bring to the team?
- Certificate III in Plumbing and Gas Fitting
- Hold a valid and current Plumbing Contractor’s Licence issued by the Plumbing Licencing Board of Western Australia (must include Water, Drainage and Sanitary)
- Gas Fitting Licence (including servicing)
- Licence to operate elevated work platforms or willing to obtain
- Construction Safety Induction Card
- Working at Heights Ticket or willing to obtain
- Current unrestricted “C” class motor vehicle licence
- Minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience
- Knowledge and understanding of water and sewerage legislation, and the ability to interpret standards and codes.
- Have a thorough understanding of relevant plumbing codes and regulations in Western Australia and demonstrate compliance with them.
- Knowledge of construction and maintenance techniques relevant to water, sewerage and gas systems and infrastructure including sanitary and water piping systems, assembling and installing pipes, valves, fittings and fixtures, and testing pipe systems and fixtures for leaks.
- Sound knowledge of sewer pumps and pool filtration and pumping systems.
- Proficient in various plumbing techniques, tools and equipment, as well as knowledge of different plumbing systems.
- Previous experience with working with computers, tablets, and smartphones.
- Good customer service skills
- Ability to use initiative to resolve problems and/or suggest alternatives
- Ability to work autonomously
- Well-developed organisational skills including the ability to plan own work schedule, set priorities and meet strict work deadlines
- Ability to work in a team environment.
The finer details
This permanent full-time position has a salary of between $82,825 - $99,390 dependent on qualifications and experience and includes Commuter use of a Council Vehicle. This position is located at the City’s Operations Centre, 93 Park Road, Mandurah.
