The position
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Full-Time Swimming Teacher and Coach to join our team of dedicated, highly qualified instructors.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the integrity and consistent delivery of the State Swim program across our team of 65+ instructors at this location. Please note, this position requires availability on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) as well as public holidays.

Summary of Duties & Responsibilities
Learn to Swim
Deliver safe, effective swimming lessons to children and adults using the State Swim program.
Plan and conduct engaging lessons tailored to each swimmer’s level.
Recognize individual abilities and motivate swimmers to reach their full potential.
Use encouragement and positive reinforcement to enhance the learning experience.
Foster a nurturing, inclusive environment that inspires confidence and participation.
Demonstrate and explain correct swimming techniques.
Provide constructive feedback and suggest improvements in technique and performance.
Continuously assess progress and communicate updates to supervisors.
Support and mentor trainee instructors, offering guidance and feedback.
Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions.
Squad Coaching
Provide high-quality coaching aligned with the State Swim methodology.
Organize and oversee squad activities, including Carnivals, Super Swims, and Challenges.
Maintain regular communication with parents regarding swimmer progress and goals.
Keep families informed about upcoming events and squad updates.
Conduct monthly swimming assessments.
Cultivate a team-oriented, positive coaching environment.
Ensure sessions are goal-oriented, engaging, and level-appropriate.
Promote the squad program and actively recruit new members.
Lead coaching team meetings as needed.
Uphold high coaching standards through consistent feedback and performance monitoring.
Attend relevant workshops and meetings.
Management
Evaluate class structures and suggest enhancements to optimize participant and instructor performance.
Identify and support professional development opportunities for team members.
Lead training sessions to upskill staff and maintain instructional excellence.
Monitor compliance with qualification requirements across all team roles.
Champion the State Swim values and culture at the facility.
Oversee pool operations, including plant room and facility maintenance.
Monitor and maintain correct chemical levels and equipment to ensure optimal pool performance.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Required:
Certificate IV or higher in a relevant field.
Minimum 8 years of swim instruction and coaching experience across all levels (from infants to squad).
AUSTSWIM certification (or equivalent).
Valid Working with Children Clearance.
Senior First Aid Certification.
National Police Clearance.
Pool Operator Course Certification.
Preferred:
Multilingual – fluency in English and another language is an advantage.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Experience with UDIO and Deputy systems is highly regarded.
