About the opportunity

We have an ongoing full-time opportunity for a Data Scientist to join Energy Safe's Data and Regulatory Intelligence team.

You will contribute by:

• Work with Data and Regulatory Intelligence department to mature Energy Safe analytics from descriptive to predictive level.
• Provide guidance and advice to internal and external stakeholders on all data science and analytics related aspects in the development, implementation and management of regulatory compliance programs.
• Develop and implement statistical and predictive modelling concepts. Use clustering and classification techniques, as well as recommendation and optimisation algorithms, to support regulatory targeting, assurance and performance monitoring as necessary.
• Apply Artificial intelligence, deep learning and machine learning techniques to provide support to operational decision making and to improve Energy Safe regulatory targeting.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of Energy Safe data governance framework and its processes.
• Document and map the interactions between business processes and data.
• Communicate and coordinate effectively with the data analytics and regulatory intelligence teams, information technology teams, and other business units to ensure models and results are well understood and incorporated into their business processes.

To be successful, you'll have:

• A degree in data science, mathematics, statistics, computer science or related disciplines. Postgraduate degree is preferred.
• A strong curiosity to learn and apply data science techniques and tools.
• Extensive experience in basic and advanced analytics techniques and concepts such as test of hypothesis, supervised/unsupervised learning, linear/logistic regression, decision tree and cross validation.
• Programming skills: Solid knowledge and experience of Python/R and database query language SQL.
• Hands on experience with data science Microsoft Azure stack such as Azure ML, AI studio, Databricks.
• Experience with data visualisation tools, preferably PowerBI.
• Practical experience in using code version control systems such as DevOps and GitHub.
• Efficient written and verbal communication skills.
• A proven ability to deploy automated data processing and ML pipelines (desired).
• A deep interest in data and AI, especially generative AI (desired).
