Lifeline Loddon Mallee has an exciting opportunity for a proactive Assistant Manager for our soon-to-open store at Strath Village. Reporting to the Senior Store Manager, you will assist in managing and leading the day to day operations of the store and have autonomy to make the store a success.
We are a community focused, volunteer led organization that prides itself on inclusivity. The Assistant Manager needs to promote this inclusivity in their interactions with customers, volunteers and the community. Including but not limited to our First Nations people, C.A.L.D and LGBTQIA+.
This is a part-time role, working 0.7 FTE (or 26.6 hours per week). However, full-time is available for the right candidate.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
We are looking for a responsible Assistant Manager to help organize and operate our new retail store. This is a highly autonomous operational role. The role reports to the Senior Store Manager who oversees multiple stores. You will be responsible for the running of the store and ensuring customer satisfaction. Working closely with the Senior Store manager to implement the retail strategy, including organizing, planning and implementing processes, pricing, merchandising, rostering and volunteer retention.
Our ideal candidate will have retail manager skills with a sharp business mindset and the ability to organize and solve problems. Interpersonal and mediation skills will also be an advantage as you will often be acting as a liaison between the manager, employees, volunteers, and customers. With the ability to analyse consumer behavior to ensure our store meets and exceeds client expectations.
Ideally our Assistant Manager will play a big role in making our store operate effectively, giving our customers the best experience in the store that's possible. Actively being a big part of processing donations ensuring they are clean and ready to maintain a fully stocked store at all times while working with and guiding volunteers.
This store will operate 6 days a week, and this position may include some weekend work.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide day-to-day operations:
Assist the Senior Store Manager in implementing strategies to attract customers and ensure continuity in pricing and processes between the two stores.
Coordinate daily customer service operations (e.g., sales processes, orders and payments)
Track the progress of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual objectives and budget.
Be responsible for opening and closing procedures.
Meet daily, weekly, and yearly budget expectations.
Analyse and interpret retail data, like revenues and expenses
Monitoring inventory and ordering merchandise from our sorting facility at Long Gully as required
Conduct regular audits to ensure the store is functional and presentable
Act as our store’s representative and set an example for our staff and the general public
Manage and maintain Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards for the store's location.
Support, collaborate, and supervise:
Fostering a culture of inclusiveness and community spirit within our team will, in turn, enhance the customer experience in our store.
recruiting and training new volunteers
Ensuring all employees and volunteers adhere to the company’s policies and guidelines
Being responsible for the Store rostering.
Supervise, train, and Collaborate with all team members, leveraging their skills and experience, while identifying training needs.
Other Duties:
Cleaning, dusting and maintaining our store standard
Manual handling, lifting and processing of donations
Handle complaints from customers
Other tasks as needed.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Proven experience as a Retail Assistant Manager or similar position (within a thrift store environment would be an advantage)
Experience with recruiting, training, and mentoring staff
Familiarity with financial and customer service principles
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Previous experience working with volunteers would be an advantage
Interpersonal and communication skills
Proven experience in operational decision-making
Some flexibility to work in shifts
Have a practical understanding of workplace safety.
