Grand Pacific Health is looking for an experienced Senior Peer Worker to support the establishment of the new Medicare Mental Health Centre in Campbelltown. Medicare Mental Health provides high quality, evidence-based assessment, care coordination, information, support, and treatment to people experiencing psychological distress, their family, carers, and support networks. The service offers immediate, short to medium-term episodes of care and service navigation.

About Us
Grand Pacific Health is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to delivering inclusive and integrated health care to communities across NSW and ACT. With a workforce of over 400 people, we provide services from 25 locations and are continuing to grow. Our team members benefit from flexible work options, professional development, and a culture that values well-being and work-life balance.
About the role The Senior Peer Worker will work within the Medicare Mental Health Centre team to provide open, appropriate, and effective support to people accessing or considering connection to Medicare Mental Health services. As a Senior Peer Worker, you will not only use your own life experience of mental health and personal recovery to support consumers, but you will also support the peer worker team as a role model and mentor. We have multiple positions available. Full-time employees can opt to enjoy a rostered day off each month. The service will operate seven days a week and candidates should be flexible and available to work on a rostered basis, including on weekends and outside of normal business hours, as needed.

As the Senior Peer Worker, you will also:

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to new Peer Workers by responding to their queries, role-modelling positive practices, and promoting effective case management.
  • Support individuals accessing services through shared experiences, advocacy, and trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approaches.
  • Deliver peer support in one-on-one and group settings, fostering hope and resilience while identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and team members to help individuals navigate systems and achieve their desired outcomes.

The Senior Peer Worker works collaboratively with the other members of the Medicare Mental Health Centre team and external services to maximise care outcomes for consumers. Why join us?

  • Salary packaging options to increase your take-home pay by reducing your taxable income (up to $15,900 for living expenses + $2,650 for meals and entertainment).
  • Brand new office and facilities in the heart of town
  • Additional day of leave over end of year shutdown.
  • 17.5% Annual Leave loading
  • Company-paid parental leave for all parents.
  • Employee Assistance Program via LifeWorks for 24x7 counselling support, including telehealth, live chat and wellbeing platform.
  • Flexible work arrangements to find your best work life balance
  • Continuous learning and professional development opportunities.
  • Work in a supportive, growing organisation with a focus on employee well-being and a positive workplace culture.

Skills and experience We are looking for someone with:

  1. Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work
  2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Peer Worker role
  3. Direct lived experience of life changing mental health challenges and/or mental health service use as well as periods of healing and personal recovery
  4. Commitment to safely and purposely share lived experience to engender hope and support others on their personal recovery journey
  5. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, and lead and guide staff through influence
