- Located on the Camperdown Campus at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney (UVTHS)
- Exciting opportunity to provide best practice veterinary care and student teaching as part of the anaesthesia team, within a multi-discipline specialty hospital
- Base Salary HEO3, Step 1 (38 hpw), $76,356 p.a. + 17% superannuation + appropriate shift loadings
About the opportunity
The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for a qualified Veterinary Nurse in Anaesthesia to provide nursing and technical assistance with clinical and emergency cases presented to the small animal hospital.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- administer anaesthesia and perform nerve blocks under supervision
- general nursing duties, including husbandry, restocking, and cleaning, as well as assisting other departments when anaesthesia is not busy
- monitor patient vitals and provide pain management
- maintain anaesthesia equipment and document patient records
- take on-call shifts with remote support from an anaesthesia specialist (once trained)
- provide post-operative care and assist with training junior staff and students.
Ideal Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

About you

- a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) and/or advanced veterinary nursing experience in a small animal veterinary hospital emergency environment
- 2-3 years of experience working as a Veterinary Nurse in a clinic
- the eagerness to learn and upskill in anaesthesia
- the ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
- the willingness to take on-call shifts once trained
- experience with advanced anaesthesia will be highly regarded.
