Apollo Music Academy (AMA) is a young, but rapidly growing instrumental tuition academy conducting lessons in 5 schools, looking to expand its community of musicians and provide more opportunities to learn, perform and celebrate music. We would like to offer the opportunity for a new teacher to join our team, share their knowledge of music and their instrument, and to nurture their students into accomplished musicians. We currently have a cohort of young pianists, drummers and singers ready to continue learning music in Term 3 (July 2025).
The opportunity is to teach a cohort of enthusiastic students at our schools around Geelong and the Bellarine. Types of lessons are either 1-on-1 or very small groups, ranging from raw beginner to intermediate levels. No prior teaching experience required. Added advantages for candidates include:
Willingness to teach more than one instrument (however, not necessary),
Willingness to teach both private 1-on-1 lessons and small group lessons,
Prior music teaching experience or experience in a similar education realm.
Additionally, proficient communication, organisation and instrumental skills are essential.

Experience:
No prior teaching experience required - mentoring and assistance supplied by AMA.
Adequate knowledge and experience of their instrument.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Planning out lessons to cater for each student based on their ability and understanding,
Teaching techniques of playing their instrument correctly,
Teaching fundamentals of music theory and notation,
Providing feedback to students (and parents where appropriate),
Preparing students for upcoming performances and exams,
Ensuring that lessons are enjoyable for their students.
Skills:
Knowledge and experience of various musical techniques,
A vast knowledge of melody, rhythm, pitch and other fundamentals of music,
Ability to read and decipher notation,
Ability to communicate with all ages and levels of students,
Ability to recognise and understand the strengths and weaknesses of students,
Time management,
Proficient, prompt and frequent communication with administration staff members.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Must have transport available to arrive to and from work,
Must have a Working With Children’s Check or equivalent (VIT, etc.). This can be organised after hiring, but must be acquired before commencing teaching role.
