Women’s Safety Services of Central Australia (WoSSCA) is a specialist domestic, family and sexual violence service that operates on a feminist framework. We work to respond and prevent gendered violence in Central Australia by providing safe accommodation and support services for women and children who are experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence. Our Vision is for all women and children to live with greater safety, respect and dignity, free from violence, in their chosen community.
The Role
The Co-Responder Victim Survivor Worker provides proactive case work intervention to women and their children experiencing domestic and family violence and sexual violence. The position will be responsible for working with clients and providing assessment, safety planning and case management support as well as facilitating access to a range of services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide assertive outreach to women experiencing domestic and family violence, including home visits in community and town camps.
• Undertake risk assessment and safety planning, provide support and information about domestic and family violence and sexual violence and ensure women are assisted to meet their safety needs.
• Work alongside clients in a strength-based, trauma informed manner to develop safety and case management plans to address women’s immediate and long-term support needs that aim to reduce their risk of domestic and family violence and sexual violence.
• Work collaboratively with NT Police, Department of Children and Families and Tangentyere Council.
• Provide timely advocacy and referrals to services identified alongside women and documented in the safety and case management plans.
• Work collaboratively with WoSSCA team members to achieve best outcomes for women accessing services.
• Maintain accurate and thorough written records including case notes, meeting and supervision notes,
inter-agency communications and referrals.
• Collect accurate statistical client data and assist in program reporting requirements.
• Participate in staff meetings, skills development and training opportunities and performance appraisal activities as directed by the Manager.
• Prepare for and participate in regular internal supervision and actively seek supervisory support.
• Participate in a range of practical tasks that facilitate an effective and safe provision of WoSSCA services.
• Contribute or lead practice reviews and policy development
• Perform other reasonable duties as directed by the Manager or CEO.
