About the role

We are currently seeking a Senior Heritage Officer to join NSW Public Works (NSW PW). In the role of Senior Heritage Officer, you will be part of the Heritage, Environment & Planning team (HEP). You will manage heritage projects and provide support to project leaders within HEP, and contribute to delivering programs, to government sector clients, in an effective and responsive manner.

The Senior Heritage Officer will also provide built heritage conservation services including managing procurement of consultants and coordinating heritage design and advisory services to clients, delivering advice and documentation for heritage works, and heritage quality assurance to NSW Public Works across a range of projects in infrastructure and assets. You will undertake inspections, arrange and attend site meetings and complete minutes and undertake photographic recording of site works in progress. You may be required to prepare heritage management plans, heritage impact statements and other heritage documents for statutory compliance for a range of NSW government clients and manage project financials and reporting within HEP.

About you

To undertake this role successfully, you will require appropriate qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in architecture or building related fields with minimum 5 years of experience in heritage building conservation matters and related project delivery involvement. You will need to demonstrate your broad knowledge and experience in technical and heritage conservation and administrative tasks in consultation with relevant team members. You will need to have the ability to work independently and exercise judgement in responding to general enquiries from colleagues, clients and consultants.

You will require proven skills to assess, scope and specify heritage and building works as required, be proficient with CAD skills to document project works, amend documents and demonstrate experience in records management and database management.

If you have the capability to achieve success in this role and are interested in creating a more prosperous NSW, we would love to hear from you!
