Mabunji ARIC is an Aboriginal organisation primarily funded via grants. The primary responsibility of Mabunji is to provide services and support to Traditional Homelands and 4 Town Camps. Additionally, Mabunji manages various programs including (but not limited to) Aboriginal housing maintenance, Community Harmony and Safety, Aged Care and Child Care facilities, Art and Language cultural centre, mechanical workshop, Sea Ranger unit, Heavy Vehicles (Civil Works). Mabunji is based in Borroloola, located on the McArthur River, approximately 280 kms west of the Queensland border, in the Gulf of Carpentaria, 380 kms north of the Daly Waters on the Stuart Highway, 700kms southeast of Katherine. Borroloola is a gazetted town and offers most services and facilities. King Ash Bay Fishing Club is 45kms north of Borroloola and offers facilities for keen anglers. The region has an influx of tourists during the Dry season ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 people.

Qualifications & experience

• Trade Qualified Carpenter
• Current C Class Drivers licence. Higher is desirable
• Ability to live remote and camp out for periods of a time as required
• Will travel to nearby Island outstations to provide services, so no problems to traveling by sea an advantage.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Working as part of a multi-functional team, your role is to deliver effective and efficient Housing Maintenance works to Outstations, Town Camps and Mabunji ARIC Assets.
• Your trade qualifications will come into effect when applying your skills in knowledge to small construction projects
• Train and mentor Indigenous Trade Assistants
• Ensure all building work applies to Australian Standards and adhere to OH&S policies
