Great Barrier Reef and Marine Parks (GBR&MP) Region are excited to share an incredible opportunity for a Ranger to join the team on a permanent basis.
As one of the six regions of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the GBR&MP Region delivers conservation and management activities across land and sea including implementing the Reef Joint Field Management Program.
This Ranger role offers an exciting opportunity to work in some of the most stunning marine and island protected areas of the Northern Great Barrier Reef. As a Ranger,
you'll be hands-on in maintaining park infrastructure and walking tracks, helping to protect wildlife and natural habitats, and ensuring park rules are followed. You'll spend a lot of time out on the water aboard vessels, exploring remote locations and working closely with other agencies on marine zoning, park management and species protection. This role is perfect for someone who's passionate about the ocean, enjoys adventure, and wants to make a real difference in conservation and environmental education.
Role focus:
• Carry out diverse park management tasks including infrastructure maintenance, fire, weed and pest control, cultural/natural resource management, and plant operation.
• Support planning and implementation of annual work programs, managing resources within budget constraints.
• Perform compliance and enforcement duties, supported investigations and engaged with stakeholders and the public.
• Participate in emergency response, supervised staff and volunteers, handled admin tasks, and promoted inclusive practices for First Nations peoples.
To be considered you must hold the following qualifications:
• an unrestricted manual driver's licence
