About Out Team:

The PCH Psychiatric In-Reach Team (PPIRT) and Gender Diversity Service (GDS) are specialist services within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), dedicated to delivering high-quality, inclusive mental health care to children, adolescents, and their families.

The PPIRT is a specialised mental health team that provides assessment, support and brief intervention for patients aged 0-16 years who are under the care of PCH paediatric teams receiving treatment for physical health issues at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH). The service offers support to medical teams by providing diagnostic, management and referral advice for patients who have co-morbid mental health difficulties or psychological distress.

The GDS is a specialist outpatient service that offers an affirming approach to support gender diverse young people and their families. GDS is the only specialist service in WA providing multi-disciplinary specialist assessment and access to gender affirming medical care for young people in WA.

GDS also has a well-established research partnership with Telethon Kids Institute.

About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our team, working in close partnership with the Head of Service for the PCH Psychiatric In-Reach Team (PPIRT) and the Gender Diversity Service (GDS).

You will be responsible for strategic development, coordination, integration, monitoring and evaluation of a designated specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) PPIRT and GDS services. You will be accountable for the clinical and corporate governance of the services, including managing the human, financial, technological and physical resources required for effective budget management and the implementation of best practice policies and procedures. You will lead quality improvement initiatives, support staff development, and maintain robust performance and risk management systems.

Collaboration with senior stakeholders across the health sector is essential, as is a commitment to consumer engagement and continuous service enhancement. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the mental health outcomes of children and adolescents across our community.

You will lead a diverse, multi-disciplinary team of clinicians and other staff working within the Service. This includes undertaking recruitment and selection processes, overseeing training and development opportunities, monitoring performance outcomes for the team, and enabling effective day to day operations from a human resources perspective.

A tertiary qualification and appropriate registration in health, behavioral, social science or a clinical background within allied health, nursing, or psychology is desired. Previous experience managing a multi-disciplinary health care team is desired.

About our CAMHS Directorates

  • Community CAMHS– Community CAMHS offers mental health assessment and multidisciplinary intervention for children and young people up to the age of 18 years.
  • Specialist Services and Day Programs– The Specialist Services and Day Programs consists of Complex Attention and Hyperactivity Disorder Service, Multisystemic Therapy, Pathways and Touchstone. These programs support children and young people who have complex mental health needs.
  • Acute CAMHS– Acute CAMHS, based at Perth Children’s Hospital has a mental health inpatient unit (Ward 5A), PCH Psychiatric In-Reach Team, Eating Disorder Service and Gender Diversity Service.
