About Mawarnkarra Health Service (MHS)
Mawarnkarra (MHS) is the largest primary health care provider providing direct services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in the Roebourne area. MHS provides the families of Roebourne with a fully functional and accredited Clinic that treats approximately 3,000 people per year.

The Position
The role of the Child Health Nurse is to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people through the effective planning and delivery of culturally sensitive care to women and their children; 0-5 years of age. Mawarnkarra has built strong partnerships with other service providers and part of the role of the Child Health Nurse will be to progress and document these partnerships.
The Child Health Nurse works in partnership with our midwife, to promote children progressing, postnatal + 6 weeks into the care and support of the child development program.
The service specific outcome of the Child Development and Maternal Health programs is for Aboriginal children to have increased access to timely and relevant health services that support their growth and development. Both programs share a common resource in the Community Support Worker.

Duties
1. Clinical services:
Provide education and support to clients
Provide a high level of clinical monitoring, identify developmental delays early and refer to medical and allied health services as indicated
Provide childhood immunisations as per the National Childhood immunization Schedule
Improve early childhood health outcomes and the achievement of developmental milestones by children in the community so they are healthy, ready to start school, able to learn effectively and thrive.
Work to integrate childhood maternal and child health, family support services through a placed based approach
Agree and implement a plan and key measures to address the communities’ priorities in helping children to thrive and be ready to start school
Provide leadership in the delivery of clinical services
Provide mentorship to other team members
Model best practice evidence-based care
2. Program implementation and management:
Ensure a clear understanding of Mawarnkarra key performance indicators pursuant to contractual obligations for funding of the position.
Achieve the key performance indicators for the Child Development Program, and any other Child and Maternal Health Programs.
Work with the Midwife in planning and implementing a program that will facilitate optimal outcomes against key performance indicators.
Attend meetings and provide expert input into the various working groups and program management groups.
Promote cooperative and collaborative working relationships with other health service providers in the area.
3. Reporting and health data responsibilities:
Maintain accurate clinical documentation at all times
Ensure that data is at all times accurate, complete and up to date
Ability to learn and use Communicare
Requirements
Registered Nurse with AHPRA
Post graduate qualification in child health OR relevant experience
Current Western Australian drivers license
COVID-19 vaccinated
Consent to undergo a WA Working With Children Check and a National Police Clearance
Current CPR certificate
Able to pass regular and random drug and alcohol testing
Please note that housing is not included with this role.
Remuneration Benefits include:
Base Salary of $110,935 - $110,935
District Allowance (eligibility subject to policy) $3,055 - $6,111
Housing Allowance of $13,000
Leave Loading of 17.5% on Annual Leave - $1,493
Electricity Allowance (paid over summer 10 pay periods) - $1000
Annual Airfares (after 12 months of continuous service) - $1000
11.5% Superannuation
