The City of Fremantle is currently seeking to appoint experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Senior Parks and Landscape Officers to join our Parks and Landscapes Service Team. You will be a passionate team player that has a genuine commitment to customer service.
Key responsibilities include:
• Undertake general horticultural maintenance tasks such as planting, hedging, formative and clearance pruning.
• Manage turf maintenance such as mowing, grass edging and brush cutting.
• Ability to operate machinery relevant for the role such as hand tools, pruning equipment, mowing equipment, weed management tools and equipment, etc.
• Routine site clean-up and damage inspections. Collect all litter, debris and hazardous materials and dispose of in an appropriate manner.
• Identify weeds, pests and diseases and use appropriate methods of control via mechanical, cultural and chemical control methods.
• Under limited direction manage day to day scheduling and task prioritising of maintenance works.
• Ability to delegate work within the team environment.
• Ensure adequate supervision and direction of assigned parks and landscapes officers.
• Provide onsite training and induction when required.
• Maintain accurate work records, e.g. timesheets, audits, reports and appropriate forms in manual and digital environments.
To succeed in this position, you will need to possess the following:
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Experience in parks and gardens or a similar environment, including practical experience with horticultural plant and equipment.
• Sound leadership skills, including the ability to lead, motivate and performance manage staff whilst promoting a team ethos.
• Sound knowledge of amenity horticulture, turf, tree and reticulation maintenance practices.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite of applications, and Adobe Suite.
• A current WA ‘C’ class manual driver’s licence.
