About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Capacity Building Therapist to join our team in Gisborne, Victoria. While initially part-time, due to rapid growth it is anticipated that this role will quickly become full-time. This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of neurodivergent children and young people, funded by the NDIS.

In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality therapeutic interventions and support aimed at building the capacity of neurodivergent children and young people and their families. Your work will directly contribute to fostering inclusive learning environments and empowering individuals to reach their full potential.

While previous years of experience are not essential, we are seeking a flexible and adaptable individual who is willing to travel across the Gisborne and surrounding areas in a company vehicle to deliver services in homes, schools, and community settings.

Key responsibilities include:

Qualifications and Registration: The successful applicant will hold qualifications recognised by the NDIS for capacity building services. This may include, but is not limited to, Developmental Educator, Early Childhood Counsellor, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, Cert IV in Therapy Assistant, or Behaviour Support Practitioner. Candidates nearing completion of their qualification are also encouraged to apply. You must hold current registration with the governing body of your profession (e.g., AHPRA for OTs, Speech Pathologists; DEAI for Developmental Educators; etc.). Valid Working with Children Check and driver's licence are essential.

NDIS-Recognised Capacity Building: Delivering therapeutic services recognised under the NDIS Capacity Building category. You will focus on empowering neurodivergent children and young people to develop skills, increase independence, and participate more fully in their homes, schools, and communities.

Holistic Assessment and Intervention: Conducting comprehensive, child-centred assessments to identify individual strengths, challenges, and support needs. Developing and implementing evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to support educational outcomes, daily living skills, and social participation for neurodivergent individuals.

Collaboration with Families and Care Teams: Working closely with children, young people, their families, educators, and other allied health professionals as part of a wider care team. You will integrate therapeutic goals into broader support plans and ensure a coordinated, family-centred approach to intervention. This includes supporting home-schooled children and young people, and those who experience school can’t, by working collaboratively with families to achieve their NDIS goals.

Goal Setting, Monitoring, and Reporting: Creating clear, measurable, and achievable goals in collaboration with clients and families. You will actively monitor progress towards these goals, make necessary adjustments, and provide accurate, timely reports to stakeholders, including NDIS participants and their families.

Accurate Record Keeping: Maintaining meticulous and timely records of assessments, interventions, progress, and communications in accordance with professional, organisational, and NDIS compliance standards.

Capacity Building and Training: Providing guidance, strategies, and resources to families and support networks to enhance their ability to support the neurodivergent child or young person. This may include developing practical tools and offering ongoing consultation. A demonstrated understanding and knowledge of dyslexia and dyscalculia will be a significant advantage in this role, enabling you to provide targeted support to individuals with these specific learning profiles.

This role offers the chance to work autonomously while being part of a supportive multidisciplinary team dedicated to best practice. If you are an enthusiastic therapist committed to empowering neurodivergent children and young people and their families, we encourage you to apply. Full training will be provided in line with experience and expertise.
