About the Role

Our Government client based in Canberra is seeking a motivated and capable Junior Data Analyst to support the Diplomatic Security Division (DSD). This role will suit a data-driven individual with strong analytical skills and a proactive mindset who is looking to contribute to national security outcomes.

Please note: This is a security-designated position. The successful applicant must hold an active Negative Vetting Level 2 (NV2) Security Clearance prior to commencement. To be eligible you must be an Australian Citizen

Contract Length: 12 months (potential 12mth extension)

Key Responsibilities

Working with the Entity, the Junior Data Analyst will be responsible for:

Investigating and interpreting data from multiple sources to generate analytical reports on security events, incidents, and trends.

Developing and managing reporting processes to ensure accurate, timely, and complete outputs.

Engaging with stakeholders and senior executives to enhance data and analytics capabilities.

Supporting senior staff in preparing, visualising, and presenting data on key security priorities.

Participating in data governance and process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

Analysing and archiving technical system data to identify patterns or anomalies in countermeasures systems (e.g. CCTV, access control, alarms).

Performing other duties as required.

Mandatory Requirements

The ideal candidate must demonstrate:

Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Working knowledge of MS Power BI and data visualisation tools.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Capacity to engage in collaborative discussions on data, system, or process issues.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong writing ability to translate technical data into actionable insights for decision-makers.

A team-oriented approach and willingness to support senior staff and peers.

Current NV2 Security Clearance (Australian Government).

Desirable Skills and Experience

Degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, economics, or equivalent experience in data analytics.

Experience working with or in the Australian Federal Government.

Familiarity with MS Visio, IP networks, and HyperTerminal.

Exposure to analytical or programming tools such as Python, Ruby, Splunk, etc.

Experience with technical security systems including Type 1/1A alarms, Chubb software (e.g. Paragon, Configurator), or access control systems.
