Are you a passionate, experienced Speech Pathologist looking to work at the forefront of adult neurological and medically complex care? At Medical Speech Pathology, we believe in treating the whole person — not just their diagnosis — while delivering care grounded in the highest standards of evidence-based practice. We use advanced tools and objective measures to inform our work and are proud to offer high-level, compassionate support to adults with complex needs. We’re looking for a like-minded clinician to join our growing mobile practice.

The Role

We’re offering a rare opportunity for an experienced Speech Pathologist to join our practice on a permanent full-time basis, with part-time considered for the right candidate.

You’ll work with an acquired neurological caseload with complex presentations — including stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, Friedreich’s Ataxia & other progressive neurological diseases, head and neck cancer, Functional Neurological Disorder, and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome — with a strong focus on instrumental swallowing assessment, dysphagia management, and acquired communication disorders. Services are provided primarily through home visiting, with telehealth options available.

We are proud to offer Queensland’s first mobile Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) service, bringing greater access to the power of instrumental swallowing assessment to the community space.

We also offer access to and training in objective measures such as:

· Surface Electromyography (sEMG) biofeedback for swallowing

· Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) for dysphagia)

· Respiratory measures (eg. Spirometry and peak cough flow)

· Tongueometer

This role is ideal for a clinician who:
- Thrives in a community-based setting while working within a medical Speech Pathology framework
- Has strong foundational skills in adult acute and subacute care
- Brings initiative, independence, and emotional insight
- Is passionate about seeing the whole person, not just the diagnosis
- Is excited by the evolving scope of Speech Pathology and the chance to contribute to new and emerging models of care

You’ll be supported to develop advanced skills in areas such as:
- Functional Neurological Disorder
- Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome
- Voice assessment and management
- Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)
- And an integrative model of Speech Pathology, incorporating:
• Biopsychosocial frameworks
• Trauma-informed practice
• Cross-disciplinary collaboration

We’re looking for someone who’s not just seeking a job — but a role with meaning, mentorship, and momentum.

Your Caseload

You’ll work with a rich and rewarding caseload of adult clients with acquired neurological and medically complex conditions, including:
- Stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI)
- Progressive neurological diseases
- Dementia
- Functional Neurological Disorder
- Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and multisystem complexity

Caseload includes a range of practice areas across communication and swallowing, with a strong emphasis on complex dysphagia and instrumental swallowing assessment. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the direction of your caseload in line with your clinical interests.

Services are delivered primarily via home visits, with clients located across southeast Queensland and northern NSW, and telehealth available where clinically appropriate.
Our funding mix includes NDIS (predominant), as well as NIISQ, DVA, Medicare (Chronic Disease Management), private billing, and home care packages.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a clinician who brings clinical excellence, curiosity, and compassion to their work, and who’s excited by the opportunity to contribute to a progressive, evolving model of adult Speech Pathology.

Essential:
- Minimum 3 years' experience working with adult clients
- Prior experience in a hospital setting
- Speech Pathology Australia registration (or eligibility via mutual recognition)
- Strong dysphagia management skills
- Medical Speech Pathology experience, including familiarity with a wide range of medical conditions and body systems
- Confidence managing a medically complex caseload
- Own vehicle and driver’s licence
- Residency or valid work rights in Australia
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team culture

Desirable:
- Experience or training in:
• Videofluoroscopic Evaluation of Swallowing
• Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing
• Functional Neurological Disorder
• Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome
• Voice assessment and management
- Experience delivering community-based or home-visiting services
- A warm, reflective communicator who values whole-person care

What We Offer

At Medical Speech Pathology, we offer more than just a job — we offer a place to do meaningful, high-impact work in an environment that values integrity, autonomy, and professional growth.

You’ll have access to:
- A flexible, self-directed workday, with autonomy to manage your own schedule
- Regular supervision and mentoring — both internal and external with experts in the field
- Opportunities to specialise in areas such as Functional Neurological Disorder and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, with support for further certification and advanced practice
- Access to advanced professional development, tailored to your clinical passions
- A role that genuinely supports whole-person care and explores new models of practice
- A sustainable caseload and operational support that reduces admin load and burnout risk
- Opportunities to engage in clinical research, mentoring and supervision

You’ll also be contributing to a practice that’s building something different — a future-facing model of medical Speech Pathology that works in homes, across systems, and beyond the status quo.
