Collarts (and its predecessor Ausmusic) began more than 30 years ago with three programs, a handful of students and a small team of dedicated lecturers. Our foundation disciplines were music and audio – a proudly rock and roll start to life.

Operating as Collarts from 2010, today we teach more than 2,000 students from over 30 countries in 4 campuses and 50 high schools. We offer 24 degree programs, 5 vocational certificates and we’re ranked #1 for QILT student engagement for creative industry providers in Australia. The role:

Initially being offered as a 3 month fixed term contract, the Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the effective operation, safety, and maintenance of Collarts’ geographically dispersed campuses. This role supports the Property & Assets team by performing and overseeing a variety of proactive and reactive maintenance tasks, including conducting regular OH&S assessments, managing the maintenance email inbox, and being the first point of contact for maintenance enquiries.

The Maintenance Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating and working closely with company contractors to ensure maintenance activities are completed to a high standard, on time, and within safety guidelines. The role ensures that all tasks are planned, scheduled, and actioned promptly and safely, while assisting with minor repairs and ensuring compliance with college policies and safety standards. Ultimately, this position contributes to creating a safe, functional, and well-presented environment that supports positive experiences for students and staff.

This position is based at the Wellington campus in Collingwood with a requirement to conduct their duties across the other campuses (Cromwell/George/Brunswick Street Campuses plus associated external facilities) on a regular basis.

Technically we are looking for someone who has:

The ability to perform physical activities that include lifting, climbing, bending, squatting and standing for extended periods

Proven experience in general maintenance or a related role

Strong problem-solving and trouble shooting skills

Excellent time management and ability to prioritise tasks

Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

High attention to detail and commitment to delivering high quality work

Familiarity with WHS standards and safety procedures

Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment effectively

A valid driver’s license as travel between campuses and collection of items from suppliers is required

The ability to successfully obtain and maintain a valid working with children check

It's a bonus if you have:

Experience and certifications in Testing and Tagging

Experience of working in the tertiary education sector.
