About the role

As an Underground Coal Electrician at Deftec, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and servicing the electrical equipment and systems within the company's underground coal mining operations around The Bowan Basin. This full-time position is essential in ensuring the safe and efficient running of the mine's electrical infrastructure.

This role is available for an immediate start on a 7/7 day shift only roster.

Essential Criteria

• Underground coal mining experience with a minimum of 12 months (Please do not apply if you do not have underground coal experience)
• QLD Electrical Fitter/Mechanic License (Interstate equivalent License will be accepted for an interim period)
• Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas competencies
• Australian Driver's License
• Current LVR/CPR
• Current Standard 11 Underground Induction

What you'll be doing

• Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on a range of mining electrical equipment, including switchgear, motors, lighting, and communication systems (Previous experience in underground Wi-Fi installation/Maintenance will be an advantage)
• Troubleshooting and repairing electrical faults and malfunctions to minimise downtime and maximise productivity
• Adhering to all relevant safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment
• Preparing detailed reports and maintaining accurate records of all work performed
• Providing technical guidance and support to other members of the mining team
• Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the electrical systems

What we're looking for

• A valid Electrical Trade Certificate or equivalent qualification
• Experience (12+ Months) working as an Electrician in an underground coal mining environment
• Proven ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of electrical equipment and systems
• Strong understanding of mining electrical safety standards and regulations
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work as part of a team
• A commitment to workplace health and safety
