About the role
As an Inspector of Mines – Mental Health and Wellbeing, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing psychosocial management across the mining sector by enforcing mines safety legislation and leading inspections and audits with a specific focus on psychosocial hazards.
You will provide specialist technical advice on how PCBU’s are managing the identification, assessment, and controls of psychosocial risks in mining workplaces.
The role:
Administers the relevent work health and safety legislation as an Inspector.
Investigates workplace incidents or issues, particularly those in relation to mental health and wellbeing.
Carries out workplace inspections and audits and take enforcement action when health and safety laws are breached.
Responds to requests for regulatory and technical information about mental health and wellbeing and the work health and safety legislation.
Prepares correspondence and reports in relation to mental health and wellbeing.
Coordinates and participate in proactive campaigns and have input into future policy and direction.
Builds networks with stakeholder groups including employers, employees, government, unions and industry organisations.
Develops less experienced inspectors through coaching, advice and support and contribute to sustaining a positive team culture.
Seeks opportunities to continue to build your own capacity and expertise to take on more senior and complex roles and continues to develop and maintain professional competence and knowledge.
Undertake travel, work in in remote areas and work outside normal business hours as required.
Essential requirements for this role:
A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent qualification relevant to mental health and wellbeing.
Experience in gathering and interpreting data, appraising evidence and evaluating arguments.
Experience in applying mental health, wellbeing and work health and safety knowledge in a workplace (preferably resources sector) and conducting compliance activities.
Experience in dealing with confronting situations and gaining stakeholder cooperation.
