St John of God Berwick Hospital has a total of 202 beds, eight operating theatres, a cardiac/vascular laboratory and six birthing suites. The hospital provides a wide range of services caring for inpatients, outpatients and day patients across a range of specialties including cardiology, maternity, medical and surgical, offering state of the art equipment and facilities to our rapidly growing community. The hospital has a 16 bed Critical Care Unit with 6 Intensive Care beds and 10 Cardiac/HDU beds. Our aim is to deliver the very best in health care at our Berwick Hospital.
Your role at St John of God Berwick Hospital
The Grade 1 Occupational Therapist works alongside the multi-disciplinary team to provide clinical occupational therapy services to clients/patients using evidence based clinical practice skills.
This position will be offered on a Fixed 12month permanent full time basis, working in rehabilitation and acute care setting.
The Position
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to clients/patients and or carers on an individual or group level for both inpatients and outpatients. Completion of comprehensive patient assessment (e.g. assessment of personal care, domestic and community ADLs, assessment of the home environment, cognitive and functional physical assessment as required).
- Provision of a comprehensive treatment intervention and appropriate progression treatment to match functional goals.
- Coordinate the provision of special aids and equipment requirements of patients if required to assist with functioning.
- Provide consultation and support to medical, nursing, catering and allied health professionals within the Division as appropriate.
- Responsible for completing appropriate administrative duties arising from each session instructed. This requires liaison with the office administration team, reporting of statistical data and completion of clinical documentation
You will have a Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) along with demonstrated knowledge and skills in assessment, treatment and evaluation within Occupational Therapy practice.
To succeed you will also have demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (including ability to communicate using technology) and the ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team, you must hold a current Drivers License.

- Salary: $68,802 to $95,127 plus 11.5% superannuation
