Lighthouse Foundation provides homes and therapeutic care programs to children and young people impacted by long-term neglect, abuse, and homelessness. Our focus is to create caring communities where kids can feel safe, form meaningful relationships, and begin to heal from traumatic experiences. For the past 30 years, our proven Model of Care has successfully transformed the lives of over 1,000 young people using a range of evidence-based strategies. We now educate and support Foster Carers in the same way, so that they too can take care of some of Australia’s most vulnerable children.
HOW WILL I HELP?
As the Senior Clinician, you will provide leadership in clinical frameworks and therapeutic care, support staff to deliver consistent, evidence-informed interventions, and ensure quality care for children and young people and their families with complex trauma histories in line with the Lighthouse Model of Care.
In addition, you will play a central role in the direct engagement and therapeutic support of a small caseload of complex children and young people. In conjunction with others in care leadership, you will design care services training and provide clinical supervision to a small number of staff.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL?
First and foremost, interpersonal skills are a must, with a level of maturity and understanding needed when working with those who use and support our services.
From a professional standpoint you will require:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or a related discipline and Post Graduate qualifications/training in relevant child, adolescent and family clinical practice, family work and/or systemic approaches
Demonstrated experience in the provision of trauma informed therapeutic interventions to children, young people, their carers and families.
Deep understanding of trauma, attachment, and child development theories, and experience applying them in practice.
Experience in the provision of clinical supervision and secondary consultations in child, youth or family settings.
Evidence of experience working with children and young people with complex behaviours, and disrupted attachments
Ability to engage staff in reflective practice, training and capacity-building to embed therapeutic care approaches.
High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and levels.
Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal culture and the impact of past colonial practices on intergenerational trauma for Aboriginal children and families.
Commitment to child safety, innovation, and the therapeutic use of self in practice.
