Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.
Duties
- Manage and provide authoritative advice regarding workplace relations matters, encompassing the case management or resolution of matters relevant to alleged breaches of the Code of Conduct, grievances, industrial matters, investigations, and performance management.
- Undertake advocacy and represent the Department in a range of forums including the Tasmanian Industrial Commission and Equal Opportunity Tasmania.
- Lead and/or participate in liaison and negotiation with a variety of stakeholders, including employee organisation representatives, Commissions, Tribunals, and the State Service Management Office in relation to workplace relations matters.
- Provide high-level consultancy and advice to all levels of staff around a variety of complex human resource and employee relations matters.
- Build HR capability within the Department by mentoring and educating less experienced staff and coaching and supporting managers.
- Interpret and apply information relating to awards, legislation, directions, and procedures often involving complex and/or sensitive areas and prepare high-level correspondence, recommendations, and reports.
- Undertake research, development, review and management of projects and policies relating to HR strategic initiatives and contribute to the implementation and review of contemporary HR policies, practices, and procedures.
Desirable Requirements
- A tertiary qualification relevant to human resource management.

- Pre-employment (National Police Record) checks for: Arson and fire setting, violent crimes and crimes against the person, sex-related offences, drug and alcohol related offences, crimes involving dishonesty, deception and/or conspiracy, making false declarations, malicious damage and destruction to property, serious traffic offences, crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice, Executive or the Legislative Power.
- Disciplinary action in previous employment.
- Identification check.
