About the Areas of Work:
St Vincent's Older Adult Mental Health Service:
Area-based mental health service for Yarra, Northcote/Thornbury and Boroondara. Based in Kew, It includes a range of inpatient, residential and community based programs, providing treatment to older adults who experience acute and complex mental and often co-morbid general medical health issues. Multidisciplinary teams provide a range of clinical and therapeutic interventions underpinned by a strong commitment to recovery focused practice and person-centred care.
Clinical Neuropsychology clinicians provide inpatient and outpatient neuropsychology services across a range of acute inpatient, domestic residential, and aged care residential services settings, in addition to liaison and secondary consultation to medical, nursing and allied health team members of the service.
St Vincent's Health Independence Programs (HIP)
Health independence Program (HIP) consists of integrated hub sites located across several locations including in Fitzroy, Kew, North Richmond and Fairfield. The intent of HIP is to deliver improved outcomes for clients and to support hospital demand management and flow, through delivering integrated and coordinated care to clients across the hospital and community interface, reducing duplication and fragmentation of services and ensuring client-centered care planning.
The neuropsychology role will be within the Cognitive Dementia and Memory Service (CDAMS) - Geriatric Medicine Clinic and other streams of HIP, as required.
About the Role
As a registrar, you will be working across two outpatient settings: Aged Mental Health (0.6 EFT) and CDAMS/GMC (0.4EFT) based at St George's Hospital, Kew. This program is designed to support new psychology graduates with neuropsychology specialisation towards developing competencies and successfully transition to practice as an endorsed neuropsychologist on completion of the program. The position is fixed-term two year appointment.
The registrar position is embedded in clinical settings, working closely with Grade 3 and 4 neuropsychologists. The position will involve outpatient neuropsychological consultation with service consumers providing differential diagnostic, management, competency, educational, and select interventional services to a broad range of parties involved in the consumers health and welfare.
You will be well supported and receive joint neuropsychology supervision from senior neuropsychologists across the two programs, with also opportunity for group supervision. You will also receive support for accessing professional development opportunities, internal and external to both services.
Classifications for this role will range from Psychologist Grade 2 PK1 - PK2 ($94,478 - $106,906 per annum pro rata)
Your Contribution
- General registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Eligibility to enter a Clinical Neuropsychology registrar program with the Psychology Board of AustraliaMaster's Degree or Doctorate in Clinical Neuropsychology recognized by Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC)
- Current valid Victorian driver's license
- A current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, or willing to obtain
- Demonstrated knowledge of clinical neuropsychological diagnosis and neuroanatomy in the specialised areas of aged psychiatry, dementia and memory loss, and knowledge of related psychological, behavioural, social and health issues
- Strong interest in neuropsychiatry and relevant aspects of clinical psychological care in the context of working with adults and older people, including those with developmental and acquired cognitive impairments and dementia.
- Appropriate experience in clinical neuropsychology in a hospital clinic/community setting
- Appropriate experience conducting assessments of decision-making capacity
- Appropriate experience providing verbal and written neuropsychological feedback to individuals, families and carers, including within a multi-disciplinary clinical tea
- Familiarity with relevant legal frameworks and role of authorities, including The Mental Health Act of Victoria, Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, Office of the Public Advocate.
