Plays a central role in supporting the next generation of First Nations teachers by expanding, strengthening, and coordinating the education pathways into teaching.

About the Position
As the First Nations Education Pipeline Coordinator you will be responsible for supporting future First Nations teachers by expanding, strengthening, and coordinating the education pathways into teaching. You will ensure culturally safe and connected transitions from a range of entry points—including school leavers, Assistant Teachers, Language and Culture Workers, and VET students—into higher education programs such as the Pre-Education Program, the Undergraduate Certificate of Remote Educators, and the Bachelor of Education program.

The Pipeline Coordinator will build strong partnerships across communities, schools, training providers, and the university to help First Nations students navigate and succeed in their journey toward becoming qualified teachers. This role is integral to the Hub’s mission to grow a strong First Nations education workforce across the Northern Territory.

About You
To be successful, you will require:

• Demonstrated understanding of current Indigenous social, cultural, political, and economic contexts, especially as they relate to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education. Knowledge of how these intersect with local, national, and international First Nations education initiatives.
• Demonstrated capacity to work both collaboratively and independently in a culturally diverse, multi-stakeholder environment. Proven ability to manage competing demands, prioritise tasks, and deliver high-quality outcomes under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, with experience working in education settings that support Aboriginal students and communities from diverse linguistic, cultural, and age groups. Understanding of how to support equity in access, participation, and retention.
• Demonstrated experience supporting First Nations students in secondary education (Years 10–12), particularly in remote and regional schools, and assisting their transition to VET or higher education.
• Proven experience working in partnership with First Nations educators, assistant teachers, and leadership in Northern Territory schools, including knowledge of the school system, community expectations, and cultural protocols.
• High-level competency in Microsoft Office 365 and digital tools for tracking student data, program coordination, and communication. Awareness of digital literacy issues affecting access to education in remote and regional settings.
• Awareness of the Australian Qualifications Framework, the NT education system, and the VET–higher education interface. Ability to represent the Hub and CDU in forums, engage with stakeholders, and support education programs through clear, respectful communication.
• A strong commitment to First Nations people’s educational self-determination and the expansion of a sustainable First Nations teacher workforce across the NT.
• Ability and willingness to travel to regional and remote NT communities for program implementation and stakeholder engagement.

Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at HE Academic Level B. The base salary will be in the range of $112,710 - $133,262 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $131,870 - $155,916 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
