About the Role
We are looking for skilled and compassionate Disability Support Workers to join our team supporting a 13-year-old non-verbal male client with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual Disability (ID). This is a high-support, high-complexity role requiring confidence in behaviour management, personal care, and strict adherence to restrictive practice protocols.This client has a range of authorised Restrictive Practices in place. You must be familiar with or willing to be trained in the safe use, documentation, and reporting of the following:

Chemical Restraints, Environmental Restraints, Mechanical Restraint, Physical Restraints (PRN), Seclusion (PRN): Withdrawal to a safe space when required for safety

The successful applicant will support the client in his home and during structured, sensory-safe community access (2:1 ratio). You must be able to follow detailed care plans and behavioural strategies and be comfortable applying authorised restrictive practices as per DHS and NDIS requirements.

All staff will receive participant-specific training, including PBS strategies and escalation response protocols.

Key responsibilities

Provide full support with daily living, including personal hygiene and continence care

Implement communication strategies: visuals, Key Word Sign, gestures (minimal verbal prompts)

Support during behaviour escalation using approved strategies and de-escalation techniques

Administer medications and complete Medication Authority documentation accurately

Complete daily records including ABC Charts, incident reports, and RP documentation

Maintain 2:1 supervision in community to ensure safety and reduce absconding risk

Work collaboratively with allied health professionals, family, and team members

Maintain routine, structure, and a calm sensory-friendly environment

About You
We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and calm professional who:

Is passionate about supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disability

Demonstrates confidence in managing complex behaviours and following structured behaviour support plans

Understands the importance of routine, sensory regulation, and person-centred care

Is familiar with Restrictive Practice (RP) reporting requirements and NDIS incident documentation

Can complete ABC charting and detailed, objective reports

Has experience with or is willing to undertake MAPA or similar behaviour intervention training

Communicates clearly and respectfully with both clients and team members

Is adaptable, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a consistent support team

Is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for the participant

Is available to work across a rotating 24/7 roster, including sleepovers, weekends, public holidays, and short-notice shifts

Essential Criteria

Please do not apply unless you meet all of the following:

Certificate III or above in Disability

Valid Driver’s Licence and reliable, insured vehicle

Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check, and National Police Clearance

Current First Aid and CPR certifications

Medication Administration and Manual Handling certificates (or willingness to obtain)

Experience supporting individuals with complex behaviours and high support needs

Familiarity with authorised Restrictive Practices (RP), including RP reporting protocols

Ability to complete ABC behaviour charting and comprehensive incident reporting

MAPA or similar behaviour intervention training (or willingness to complete)

Strong documentation and communication skills

Availability for flexible, rotating shifts including weekends, evenings, and sleepovers
