Your role:
You’ll provide religious ministry or support to ADF members and their families. You’ll be required to provide for your own, facilitate for others and care for all. As such, there’s some similarity with civilian religious practitioners in the delivery of spiritual guidance, liturgical and sacramental rites of your particular faith group.
You’ll also provide spiritual support and pastoral care to all members of the Army, regardless of faith or non-faith perspectives held by ADF members. You’ll be part of a unified, multi-faith team providing leadership in the practice of faith, spiritual and religious observance and ceremony.
Your Military duties include, but aren’t limited to:
Spiritual ministry or support
Religious ministry or support
Pastoral care
Provision of advice
Character formation and development
Location
Following your initial military training in Canberra and employment training in Victoria, you could be posted to one of the many locations across Australia.
Salary:
On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you’ll enjoy a package starting from $120,064 per annum.
Eligibility:
Be at least 17 years of age when you enter the ADF
Be an Australian citizen. If you are not an Australian Citizen you may still be eligible to join the ADF if you meet certain criteria, please visit the ADF Careers Eligibility Page for more details
Be reasonably fit and healthy. Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare
Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance
At least two years of pastoral experience since ordination
Minister of Religion endorsed by an appropriate denominational authority
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in ministry or theology
