· Wide range of presentations – fewer sub specialities
· Innovative team who embrace change – you can influence and be a part
· Opportunities to participate and drive whole of hospital and district-wide initiatives
· Brand new department build, opening in 2027.
Expand your clinical skills. Scale up your career. Got your eye on more than ED? This is the role for you.
With 26,000 presentations annually and fewer sub-specialists, you’ll have the opportunity to manage a wider range of emergency presentations, developing your skills and increasing proficiency, adaptability and confidence in practice areas not usually experienced in larger teams.
Work is about to commence on the $200m redevelopment at Bathurst Hospital which includes doubling the size of ED, clinician designed workspaces and the latest technology integrations.
The ED team is a diverse group of health professionals, including Emergency Medicine Specialists, GP VMOs, nurses, physiotherapists, an ASET nurse and a nurse practitioner. With an eye on the redevelopment, the team is already innovating the service with a focus on patient experience, and to create a more efficient and rewarding workplace. A number of models and processes have been recently implemented and more are currently being piloted. Our team embrace change and you can influence and be a part of that.
Bathurst offers a flexible and rewarding workplace. Our management is consultative and approachable with staff encouraged to contribute ideas/participate in innovation projects for better care and smarter systems.
Your roster will include overnight and on call, and with our District at the forefront of digital telehealth, you are digitally networked to over 100 Specialist Doctors within the District, including ED, who are available 24/7.
Flexibility in this role is negotiated to promote healthy work-life balance, and for career development, plus we encourage wellbeing with Schwartz rounds, yarning circle, medical staff council and clinical council all in place.
Professional Development
In addition to fast tracking the depth and breadth of your clinical skills, you’ll have the opportunity to step into leadership positions in governance, clinical, education, District-wide projects and in State-wide working groups, guideline committees, or on training bodies like HETI or ACEM.
Bathurst is a teaching hospital, and you can run or contribute to ED education programs, workshops and rural skills days as well as the day to day mentorship and supervision of junior staff and students.
Research and innovation are key drivers of our service, and your academic affiliation with universities, research and presenting at conferences, are all supported.
Why join us?
This is a great opportunity to be a part of an already innovative team, where their impact is accelerating through service review plus the facilities and technology of the Bathurst Hospital redevelopment. Bathurst ED is set to make a big difference to the community of Bathurst and surrounds. Why not join us?
