We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lower Strings (Cello) Music Tutor to join our Extra-Curricular Music Program to conduct individual private lessons from the commencement of Term 3, 2025. The role is currently averaging 10 to 12 hours per week with scope to develop and increase this area of the Instrumental Music Program. Specific days and times to be discussed during interview stage.
The Lower Strings Tutor is responsible to plan, organise, maintain and implement string lessons within the Ipswich Grammar School Extra-Curricular Music Program under the supervision of the Head of Arts (Director of Performance).
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Planning, timetabling and preparing of lessons, setting repertoire, assessing, recording and reporting on development, progress and attainment;
Preparing and entering students for AMEB examinations, recording and reporting assessment results and attending meetings connected with the conduct of examinations;
Communicate effectively and consult with the parents of students, including the writing of reports and timetables;
Positively encourage students to succeed;
Proactively complete all necessary paperwork required in accounting for services provided on behalf of the school and independently as a music tutor;
Participate in departmental meetings and take responsibility for following directions;
Participate where required in Extra-Curricular performance events that may occur after-school hours; and
Conduct and manage ensembles where required.
The successful candidate will possess:
A formal qualification in Strings, Music Performance and/or Pedagogy;
Demonstrated experience in string performance at an advanced level;
Demonstrated organisational, interpersonal, communications and the ability to work with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and program formats relevant to the administration of the school; and
High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
Additional Information:
Lessons are conducted during the school day including before and after school where required.
All employees recognise and accept that multi skilling is an essential component of the school and all employees may be required from time to time to undertake duties that are outside their normal position description but within their skills, competency and capability.
