The Role
The Settlement Engagement and Transition Support (SETS) program, funded by the Department of Home Affairs, supports eligible migrants and humanitarian entrants who have been in Australia for up to five years. The program aims to empower individuals and communities to become self-reliant, connected, and able to participate fully and equitably in Australian society.
As the SETS Senior Case Manager, you will play a key leadership role in delivering culturally responsive, strengths-based case management to support clients in navigating their settlement journey. You will work directly with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds to promote social participation, economic well-being, independence, and community connection.
This is a full-time, ongoing position based in Brisbane, with occasional travel to regional service areas including Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, and Hervey Bay. Travel and transportation support will be provided in line with organisational policy.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As the SETS Senior Case Manager, you will lead the delivery of culturally competent case management services to individuals and families from migrant, refugee, and humanitarian backgrounds across Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, and Wide Bay regions.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering high-quality, strengths-based case management and psychosocial assessments.
Coordinating support for clients with complex needs, including leading case conferences and referrals.
Building and maintaining partnerships with local service providers and community networks.
Leading group projects and community engagement initiatives to support settlement outcomes.
Supporting the induction, training, and practice guidance of new staff, volunteers, and students.
Providing remote and in-person service delivery, with occasional travel supported by a travel allowance.
Promoting the SETS program and Multicultural Australia’s broader services in regional areas.
Managing timely case documentation in CS Net and DEX and participating in the on-call support roster.
Upholding Multicultural Australia’s values, Code of Conduct, and compliance with WHS and organisational policies.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Social Sciences, or a related allied health discipline (Bachelor level or higher).
Valid Queensland Driver’s Licence ,Current (or ability to obtain), Blue Card (Working with Children Check) and National Police Clearance.
Experience in case management, particularly with newly arrived humanitarian entrants or related client groups.
Skilled in delivering and facilitating group programs and training sessions.
Experience mentoring, supervising, and inducting new staff or students.
Excellent communication and cross-cultural engagement skills.
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
Knowledge of settlement services, trauma-informed practice, and community engagement.
High-level writing and reporting skills, with ability to meet funding compliance requirements.
Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn internal client databases.
Desirable:
Previous experience in a similar role within the not-for-profit sector is highly regarded.
Location: This role is primarily based in Brisbane, with occasional travel to support service delivery across Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, and Hervey Bay.
