Position Summary:
The nominated position involves full-time employment as a Motor Mechanic specialising in the maintenance, repair, and modification of four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles used in remote and challenging Australian conditions. The role is critical to ensuring vehicles are reliable, safe, and suitable for operation in isolated environments where mechanical failure can have serious consequences.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in 4WD vehicles using diagnostic equipment and visual inspection.

Service, repair, and test engines, transmissions, drivetrains, steering, braking, and suspension systems.

Perform modifications and overhauls to suspension systems to increase strength and reliability for off-road use.

Prepare vehicles for extended remote travel by upgrading and inspecting systems prone to failure in harsh conditions.

Replace worn or faulty parts and ensure compliance with manufacturer and safety standards.

Conduct pre-trip vehicle checks to minimise the risk of breakdowns during remote expeditions.

Maintain accurate service records and report any issues requiring urgent attention.

Adhere to workplace health and safety standards at all times.

Skills and Attributes Required:

Relevant trade qualification in automotive mechanical technology (or equivalent).

Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience (can be post-qualification).

Strong understanding of 4WD vehicle mechanics and a passion for off-road vehicles.

Ability to work independently with a high attention to safety and detail.

Willingness to learn and develop advanced mechanical capabilities in a niche automotive area.
