About the opportunity
The School of Rural Health (SRH) has been delivering long term rural placements for The University of Sydney year 3 and 4 medical students in Orange and Dubbo for over 20 years. In 2022, The University of Sydney commenced delivery of its four-year graduate entry Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program in two streams; a Metropolitan stream based on the University's Camperdown campus in Sydney, and a Dubbo stream based at the School of Rural Health in Dubbo.
We have casual positions available for Examination Supervision Officers to support the facilitation of examinations at the School of Rural Health in Dubbo. Examinations are held at various times throughout the academic year.
DECISION MAKING AND DELEGATIONS OF AUTHORITY
The Examination Supervision Officer works under close or direct supervision and tasks will be carried out as directed by their supervisor. Direction is provided on the tasks to be undertaken and the approach to standard circumstances related to their key accountabilities is covered in procedures/processes already in place with some scope to vary how the work is carried out to ensure that goals are met. They will resolve routine matters directly linked to their key accountabilities and be closely supervised on more complex tasks.

Sydney Medical School is one of these and includes both metropolitan and rural Clinical Schools

Your key responsibilities will be to:
- under supervision, be responsible for the effective administration of examination room(s) in compliance with existing procedures.
- provide guidance to students regarding exam processes, utilising computer programmes in the application of procedure to conduct a cohesive examination.
- assist with set up of examination venues, including paperwork and computer equipment, receiving, and checking computer systems and exam stations to facilitate the efficient delivery of computer-based and paper-based examinations on campus.
- for the duration of the exam, constantly monitor examination room(s) in order to ensure students comply with all instructions and examination rules, and to prevent and detect academic misconduct.
- accurately validate the identity of each student and ensure all conditions, including time restrictions, are adhered to by all candidates.
- complete reports for any incidents or suspected cases of cheating in accordance with university policy and procedure.
- assist with supervising computer/device-based exams.
- under the direction of the relevant supervisor, support the activities of the portfolio to ensure compliance and service excellence to students and staff.
- undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.
About you
- experience in handling enquiries and administrative workload within a highly regulated area, deadline driven and customer service focused environment.
- experience in the provision of excellent customer service, together with well-developed written and verbal communications skills within a strong customer service focused environment.
- experience in working with students in educational environment or similar.
- demonstrated computer skills including the MS Office suite.
- excellent attention to detail.
- strong problem-solving skills, the ability to use initiative, exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy periods.
- well-developed interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- compliance with the Public Health (COVID-19 Vaccination of Health Care Workers) Order 2021.
- previous experience with supervising/invigilating examination sessions within an educational environment or similar is preferred.
