Duration of the training program: 12 months from 2/2/2026 up 31/1/27
Term of the Contract: 3 Years in line with clause 52 of the Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement
At the end of the training program, we will work with the employee to find a suitable placement within SA Health for the remainder of the 3 year contract.
About the role
SA Health operates a coordinated program for trainees in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology. Successful applicants will contribute to the provision of Infectious Diseases and/or Microbiology Services within the objectives and philosophies of the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (Royal Adelaide Hospital, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital campuses), the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (Flinders Medical Centre campus), Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (Lyell McEwin Hospital campus), SA Pathology, the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA). Fulfilling a commitment to inpatient and ambulatory care, research, education and teaching, you will supervise junior medical practitioners in the admission and continuing management of Infectious Diseases patients. Attending daily ward rounds, you will participate in a rotating on-call roster with other medical practitioner staff for after hours and weekend cover for the relevant Unit, under the overall supervision of the relevant Infectious Diseases/Microbiology Consultant. You will be eligible to be registered with the Medical Board of Australia and have clinical experience appropriate to your year of training. To apply for Infectious Diseases Advanced Training, you must have successfully completed the RACP divisional clinical examination or its equivalent.

A good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, you will have the ability to liaise with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
