We’re looking for a Graduate Librarian to help us deliver high-quality library services that reflect the diverse needs of Darwin’s community. You’ll support our collections, contribute to digital systems and social media, help train staff, and work on projects that improve how our libraries operate.

About the Opportunity:

Based at Casuarina Library and working across all City of Darwin Libraries, this role gives you the chance to apply your knowledge, build your skills, and be part of a welcoming and forward-thinking library team. You’ll work on real projects, develop professionally, and play a key role in delivering services that are accessible, inclusive, and community focused.

This role is full-time – 72.5 hours per fortnight. Hours of work are 7.25 hours per day, the hours are usually a mix of 8.15 am-4.30 pm, 8.50 am- 5.05 pm & 9:45 am – 6 pm Monday to Friday, plus occasional weekend shifts available.

City of Darwin have four (4) libraries: Darwin City (Civic Centre), Nightcliff, Karama & Casuarina. Our libraries opening hours are Monday to Saturday, with Casuarina Library open on a Sunday. The successful applicants must be flexible and adaptable to working in various work locations throughout the municipality as needed to perform the role effectively, including at multiple library locations and work weekends.

What we’ll ask you to do

Help develop and maintain library collections that reflect our community’s diversity.

Deliver staff training on library systems and digital resources.

Assist with cataloguing, data analysis, and internal documentation.

Create engaging social media content and promotional materials.

Support customers with library services and digital technology.

Contribute to projects that improve how our libraries run.

What you’ll need to have

Recent graduate of Bachelor of Information Studies or equivalent allowing eligibility for ALIA professional membership – Associate or due to graduate within 6 months OR

Recent graduate of Bachelor Community Services or STEAM disciplines (or other allied field) and relevant library work experience.

Working with Children Clearance (Ochre card).
