About the Role

The Environmental Operations Branch is looking for a Recreation Trails Technical Officer to support the maintenance, inspection and asset management for Council’s trail network and delivery of community outcomes for recreation trails across Council’s network.

Responsible for the asset management, maintenance, and enhancement of Council’s diverse environmental and recreational trail assets, working collaboratively with the community and in harmony with the region’s rich biodiversity.

This role will deliver on-ground works to ensure safe, sustainable and high-quality delivery of trail networks across Councils natural and recreational areas:

GIS systems, trail mapping tools, and publicly available databases to record trail usage, alignments, update asset registers and inform maintenance schedules.

Develop work schedules for and reports on maintenance works based on exiting audits for the effective and safe functioning of Council’s trail infrastructure and ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and contemporary best-practice requirements for trail assets.

Deliver trail repairs using appropriate materials, tools, and techniques for diverse uses (e.g. walking, mountain biking, horse riding). Operate available machinery and hand tools used in trail building, including grading, drainage and surfacing.

Support the development and installation of relevant signage for recreation trails.

About you

You will possess a Diploma level education from and/or equivalent experience in a relevant technical field such as, Recreation or outdoor infrastructure; Natural resource management; Civil construction; Asset management

You will demonstrate experience in trail construction, or related outdoor infrastructure works.

You will have a strong technical skills and proficiency in using Geographic Information Systems and other mapping and auditing tools and platforms.

Experience in the use of CONFIRM asset management solution or similar asset management software.

Construction White Card.

Current “C” class manual drivers' licence
