The Opportunity

Our client is currently seeking a Manager or Senior Manager to join their national R&D Tax team. This position has exposure to a range of R&D Tax Incentive advice and compliance matters relating to clients in a variety of industries. The incumbent will also be responsible for assisting the Partner/s with the management and development of junior members of the team. This position is based in Perth and will involve working closely with the Partners, particularly those in the Western Australian practice.

Responsibilities

You will be working alongside the R&D Partners and will be responsible for the management of a large portfolio of clients to assist them in understanding and accessing R&D Tax incentive. Included in your responsibilities will be:

Work autonomously through the end-to-end R&D Tax compliance cycle, including:

Collation of documentation and drafting technical reports.

Calculation of eligible R&D expenditure.

Providing advice on positions adopted and legislative reasoning.

Meetings and correspondence with clients.

Conducting research on a variety of legislation and regulations, including R&D Tax, general Tax, and other related legislation and provide advice on technical and commercial application of legislation and government guidance materials.

Ongoing consideration of the R&D Tax and general Tax compliance landscape and formulating risk mitigation and process improvement strategies.

Managing and mentoring of junior staff and knowledge collaboration across the National R&D Tax practice, through assisting with national training sessions and on the job training.

Attendance at networking events and building of internal and external networks to facilitate Business Development opportunities.

Proactively build existing business portfolio through various means through personal and professional networks.

Participating in other Business Development opportunities, including learning the key value adds of other Business Units and delivering proposals holistically with other Managers and Senior members of the firm.

Requirements

University Degree - Business / Commerce / Finance/ Law /Science.

Existing direct R&D Tax Incentive experience of a minimum of 5-8 years in a similar role. Experience with R&D regulator reviews is desirable.

Previous experience managing a team, including practice management and people management.

Strong business acumen and business maturity to manage a portfolio of client relationships in real time is desired.

Strong written communication skills (demonstrated experience in technical, scientific or legal writing is critical).

Ability to work autonomously to complete client assignments end-to-end and as part of a team.
