Duties of the Role
Working in a rotating 12-hour shift roster providing 24/7 coverage (including nights, public holidays and weekends) within one of our communication operations centres across the state and you will be trained across two key functions:
Call-taking
· Answer Triple Zero (000) emergency calls - you are the first point of contact
· Provide advice and support before the ambulance arrives
· Follow structured and scripted protocols to assist the caller in their emergency
· Gather and record critical details
Dispatching
· Coordinate ambulance crews across Queensland
· Operate a multi-screen computer system
· Communicate via radio to the paramedics
· Manage multiple incidents at one time
· Use real-time dispatch systems.
· Coordinate non-urgent patient transport
You’ll rotate between these functions (but typically will only perform one per shift), with full training provided for both.
