About the role
Yarra Ranges Council is seeking an Infringements & Appeals Officer to join our Risk & Infringements Team, delivering high-quality service and ensuring the fair and efficient administration of infringements and appeals.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing infringement reviews while ensuring compliance with the Infringements Act 2006 and Council policies. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support the effective operation of the team.
Full-time permanent position (76 hours per week).
Band 5 role with a salary range between $78,146 and $86,825 per annum, plus superannuation.
Support work-life balance with a fortnightly or monthly rostered day off and hybrid working arrangements.
20 weeks paid primary caregiver leave (6 weeks for secondary caregivers), plus other generous leave options such as reproductive assistance and menstrual and menopause leave.
Key responsibilities:
Oversee the infringement and appeals process, ensuring compliance with legislative and Council requirements while meeting statutory timeframes.
Check, review, issue, and monitor infringements and payment plans.
Respond to community enquiries and provide clear, professional advice.
Make informed decisions within financial delegations.
Support stakeholders with guidance and advice on infringements and related tasks.
Maintain accurate penalty unit updates and reconcile Department of Justice payments.
Assist with training and operational support to ensure compliance matters are effectively managed.
Represent the Council as required, including occasional court appearances.
Experience and skills we’re looking for
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to decipher facts from multiple sources.
Previous experience in a similar role or in a regulatory environment is preferred.
The ability to clearly and easily provide strong customer service is essential to this role.
Intermediate skills in administration and YRConnect/Technology One is preferred.
Great organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate confidently with diverse customers.
