Arcadia College is a Co-Ed Independent Special Assistance Secondary School for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. We are looking for compassionate and skilled School Psychologists to work with our students who have highly complex needs.
The successful candidate can commence as soon as they are available.
This is a Full Time role, working Monday to Friday 8AM - 4PM.
Selection Criteria/Key Responsibilities
Mental health intake and assessment.
Counselling, intervention and case management.
Psychological assessments and written reports.
Develop individual support plans, including assessment of risk and safety planning.
Crisis management.
Support our young people with mental health issues, learning difficulties and disabilities to engage in their education.
Support staff within Arcadia with advice and resources.
Develop and manage an assessment and referral process for students to access support from other professional services.
Support program facilitation.
Encourage students’ participation in school-based activities that promote wellbeing and mental health literacy.
Monitoring student attendance data and supporting the implementation of intervention strategies to assist students and families in maintaining attendance.
Liaise with students parents/carers, support staff and any other external services to provide a holistic service. Make referrals to community services in collaboration with the family/ caregiver, multidisciplinary team and relevant stakeholders.
Collaborate with management when dealing with situations involving child protection and welfare. Work within appropriate legislative frameworks and organisational policy and procedure including following all mandatory reporting requirements
Skills & Qualifications required:
Tertiary qualifications in psychology to obtain General Psychologist or Provisional Psychologist registration with AHPRA.
Previous experience in Case Management and working with young people at risk preferably in a school setting.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Clear working understanding of child protection issues.
Sound knowledge of the principals of mandatory reporting obligations, data collection and program evaluation, with demonstrated conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.
High-level written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with young people. Ability to act calmly and sensitively with people who are distressed and can have demanding and unpredictable behaviours.
Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the personal barriers impacting on school participation and behaviour.
Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the barriers disadvantaged and marginalized young people face when at risk of disengaging from school and education.
Demonstrated understanding of the social, cultural, economic, and educational needs and experience working with culturally diverse families.
Demonstrated ability to adhere to professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Ability to self-manage, work effectively and efficiently with limited supervision.
This position is Full Time and the hours of work are between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday.
