About Our Social Work and Support Services
Social Work Services and Support Services work across all clinical directorates of Gold Coast Health with acute teams based throughout Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH), Robina Hospital and Tugun Satellite Health Centre. Social Work Services aim to improve the patient experience of our hospital services by reducing length of stay, improving access to acute hospital services when they are needed, and working to help prevent further admissions.
About your new role
As a valued member of the Social Work Services team, you will deliver social work services to patients and families in the Cognitive Support Unit/Complex Management Unit within the subacute facility and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Clinical work undertaken will be of a varied nature and will require service provision to patients, their families/ carers, and other key stakeholders. This includes:
- Utilising extensive clinical experience in geriatrics, complex management and cognitive support units with a high level of knowledge and clinical skills
- Managing a complex caseload with limited access to direct clinical practice supervision
- Applying differential assessment methods to identify clinical risk appropriate to the client group
- Utilising well developed communication, consultation and conflict resolution skills to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team
Qualifications
- Eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- University level Social Work degree accredited by the AASW
- Blue card / Working with children check (GCH will cover cost)
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Permanent full time (two positions)
- Base salary ranging from $128 169 - $137 918 per annum

Oral health waiting times for general dental assessment have been reduced by almost 50 per cent in less than 12 months.
Planning for the Southport Health Precinct is underway, with a range of outpatient and community based services expected to move into refurbished buildings in 2014.
