The Role:

The North West Regional Hospital has an exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses to join the permanent pool. These are permanent positions working across a wide range of general and specialty areas including Surgical, Medical and Paediatrics. The permanent pool will allow you to gain experience and progress in roles working across various areas, with the opportunity to treat a diverse range of patients in challenging and rewarding environments. You will gain skills across multiple areas and will quickly gather confidence in your ability to provide care in any setting. Working in the permanent pool provides you with the job security of a permanent position and the flexibility of not being limited to experiencing one area or one type of nursing.

You will need:

  • A strong knowledge of nursing principles, procedures, and practices, with effective assessment, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • The ability to respect individual and group rights, with excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • An understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, with the capacity to contribute to quality improvement and research activities.

Details of appointment:

Multiple permanent full time and part time, shift worker (fully rotational) positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed upon date.

Fixed term full time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 27 June 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Benefits available to eligible candidates:

  • Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.
  • Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.
  • Professional development and accelerated pathways.
  • A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.
  • Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $13.95 per week per person, or $25.95 for a family.
