Education Support Officer (ESO)
In 2025, the newly named Saints College, Geelong, is seeking an experienced Education Support Officer to join their school community for a fixed-term period.
Since 2012, we have led the way in radically inclusive education, supporting students with diverse challenges. We are an inclusive school for 12–25-year-olds seeking an alternative to mainstream education. Our environment celebrates all abilities and backgrounds, providing transformative learning experiences catering to individual needs.
We operate multiple campuses located in Fitzroy North, North Melbourne, Sunshine, Geelong, Colac, Ballarat, Bungaree and a dual engagement virtual learning campus, BlendED.
The young people we serve often face significant and complex educational, social, developmental, psychological, health, legal, or familial challenges, which demand unique interventions. Our approach is grounded in the Operation by Principles framework, which combines education with an understanding of trauma-informed practices.
The Role:
This position is to support a young person’s engagement in learning, in particular the 7-10 Victorian Curriculum and the VCE Vocational Major, with a focus on literacy and numeracy development.
This position reports to the Deputy Principal, Learning Diversity and works collaboratively with Teachers and Youth Workers, to maximise learning outcomes for young people who require significant adjustments and interventions to individual learning programs. Small group and targeted interventions will be a regular and routine aspect of the role.
You will be employed as a fixed-term Education Support Officer for 12 months and will be employed under the Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022.
You will need:
Ability to commit to and work within our Operating Principles; Respect, Participation, Safe and Legal and Honesty.
Qualification in School based education support, youth work or social work would be highly regarded.
Hold a current Working With Childrens Check and a current police check (less than 6 months old)
Hold appropriate Australian Working Rights
Equivalent experience in a similar role.
Previous experience and/or qualifications relevant to supporting and/or leading an organisations commitment to being a child safe organisation.
Demonstrated capability to support colleagues to continually improve teaching and learning.
Demonstrated understanding of the Disability Standards for Education.
Demonstrated understanding of learning support strategies for young people diagnosed with a disability.
Demonstrated willingness to reflect on and develop own practice, as well as contributing to ongoing school development.
Ability to provide a range of flexible programs and activities which successfully engage and support young people.
