About the role

The Ranger in Charge manages the resources and day-to-day operations of the Great Western Tiers Field Centre which includes areas of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area (TWWHA).

In this role, the Ranger in Charge will:

  • Be responsible for a team of dedicated and highly competent individuals.
  • Support and develop the skills and potential of the team members.
  • Contribute to development and implementation of the regional business plan and achievement of strategic goals.
  • Manage the field centre resources, including budget and expenditure.
  • Engage with local community, stakeholders and visitors.

Our ideal candidate has

  • A Diploma in Conservation and Land Management, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in reserve management, or equivalent.
  • A Workplace Level 2 First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience in Geo-conservation principles and Karst management practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including stakeholder liaison and negotiation skills.
  • Operational management skills, including project management, staff supervision, resource allocation and decision making.
